info
The Metamorphic Mice characters were created to teach children to learn and think about mathematics in fun, exciting, and brain-friendly ways. The books are mathematical historical fiction which is a unique and innovative concept, and integrate the historical facts about the works of famous mathematicians with Metamorphic Mice, the creation of Vicki Adams. The first story explores how math began and how Marvella Mouse, the first Metamorphic Mouse discovered her metamorphic powers.
In addition to the series of books, there are math learning tools for learners and educators to use in mastering mathematical concepts. Teaching methods that encompass and integrate different learning styles, theories, multiple intelligences, and brain research are the backbone of the book series and learning tools.
Our mission is to provide and present exciting literature, experiences, strategies, and hands-on tools that create connections and understanding in the instruction and learning of mathematics.
Our vision is a society where 100% of all citizens have a strong foundation in mathematics and a positive attitude toward mathematics thus ending the cycle of negativity and misconceptions of math. The result of U-Can-Do Math’s success will be a population of mathematically knowledgeable and confident parents, educators, and youth who continue to maintain the United States of America as the world-leader.
U-Can-Do Math was founded on November 12, 2013 (11-12-13) based on knowledge and experiences gained from The Metamo4ic Math Center, a hands-on children's musuem that engaged "kids of all ages" in learning how math works and learning that math is fun.
Prior to founding U-Can-Do Math, Dr. Adams was the founder and Executive Director of The Metamo4ic Math Center, a hands-on children's museum for mathematics. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Lindenwood University, a Master’s Degree from National Louis University, Certification to teach gifted students from Lindenwood University, and has completed her doctorate on a study of the Math Center from Lindenwood University.
Dr. Adams has participated in partnerships with a diverse group of educational-based community organizations including School In Partnership with Business and the STEM Teacher Quality Institute through the Institute for School Partnership at Washington University. Dr. Adams has presented workshops and professional development courses on instructing gifted students and math instruction around the state of Missouri, and she also instructed Elementary and Middle School Math Methods at Lindenwood University.
